The Charlotte Goes Green / St. Patrick’s Day Festival (Saturday March 16 from 10 am to 6 pm) happens in Uptown Charlotte on South Tryon Street (from 3rd to Stonewall Street). The festival will feature Irish music and dance performances (including the Irish Folk Band “Mulligans Banned” and the Walsh Kelley School of Irish Dance). More than 60 vendors that include Irish and Celtic items as well as unique arts and crafts and plenty of food and beverages. Last year over 80,000 spectators watched the parade!
The Emerald Isle St. Patrick’s Festival (Saturday March 16 from 9 am to 6 pm) features entertainment on three different stages. The Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation is planning on around 30,000 visitors. Music, dancing, food, arts and crafts vendors, and amusement rides. Takes place at the Emerald Plantation Shopping Center.
The Raleigh St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Wearin’ O’ The Green Festival (Saturday March 16 in Downtown Raleigh from 10 am to 5 pm) celebrate the St. Patrick and Irish and Celtic traditions. Almost 20,000 people are expected to attend this celebration.
Rhythm of the Dance (Tuesday March 19 at 7:30 pm) is an exciting 2-hour dance and music extravaganza that relives the epic journey of the Irish Celts throughout history! A talented cast of young performers, combining traditional dance, music, vocals, and costuming (while using the modern technologies). Enjoy this critically acclaimed show at High Point Theatre here in North Carolina.

For only its third time ever in the United States, the 2019 World Irish Dancing Championships (April 14 to 21) will take place in Greensboro, North Carolina. It is the largest competition of its kind and sometimes referred to as the “Olympics of Irish Dance.” Some 5,000 competitors and 25,000 spectators come from more than 30 countries. The Championship includes competitions for solo stepdance (such as double jig, hornpipe, slip jig, and reel) and certain traditional and original ceili dances.
